Biological Analysis
Biological monitoring can be used to assess exposure of workers to chemicals. The analysis targets the chemicals or their metabolites in the Urine, Blood or Breath of exposed workers.
The routes of exposure are predominantly inhalation, ingestion or skin absorption. Measurements in biological samples can reflect the total uptake of these chemicals by all routes and is particularly useful where chemicals can potentially be absorbed through the skin.
Biological monitoring can be used on its own or as a tool alongside other monitoring techniques (air, surface) to provide information on chemical exposures in the workplace.
